Company history
1973 iiyama Electric Co Ltd was founded with a capital of 10 million yen and started production of small PCW for colour TV’s
1976 Started production of OEM black & white TV’s as finished goods.
1977 Increased capital to 20M yen. Received license and manufacturing approval to produce medical devices from the Welfare Ministry and started production of low frequency therapy apparatus for household use.
1978 Started production of black & white monitors under IDEK iiyama brand name
1979 Started production of OEM small colour TV’s.
1980 Started production of OEM large colour TV’s.
1981 Started production of colour monitors under own name
Established Nagano office in Nagano-shi as Japanese base
1983 Started production of money exchanger under own name
1984 Installed automatic components inserting machines to main factory and started automatic assembly for PCB
1985 Started exporting colour TV’s (OEM) to China
1986 Introduced 15” FST
1987 Started exporting colour monitors to USA and Europe. Established Tokyo office
1989 Established sales office in USA. Introduced 21” FST
1990 Introduced 17” FST
1992 Established office in Holland
1993 Expanded European business with offices in UK and Germany and became No. 1 monitor supplier in Japan (21% market share)
1994 Established sales base in France and opened new factory in China
iiyama (UK) Ltd achieves 10% market share with 17” Vision Master product and is the first display manufacturer to offer 3yrs on-site standard warranty
1996 iiyama (UK) Ltd achieves 34% market share with 21” Vision Master product and expands offices in Stevenage
1997 Launches LCD technology in Japanese domestic market, USA and Europe
1998 iiyama (UK) Ltd celebrates 5 years of business with open day and new offices
1999 iiyama (UK) Ltd wins ‘Overall Most Successful Business’ award in local Business Award ceremony
2001 iiyama launches first projector range and is the first manufacturer to launch a 17” product based on the latest DiamondTron M2 CRT. iiyama (UK) Ltd becomes leading branded supplier of 17” LCD technology in Q3
2002 iiyama launches 18.1” LCD panel with the slimmest 12mm bezel in the world
2003 iiyama increases LCD market share and introduces LCD-TV products
2004 iiyama UK breaks the record of unit sales in three of the months during the first half of 2004. iiyama introduces large format (32” & 40”) LCD technology for presentation and TV products..
